The Orange County Rescue Squad was started in September of 1951 and has been answering the call for help since that day with volunteers from our community like you. These volunteers are everyday people that wanted to help others in their time of need. Our members range in age from 16 years to over 60 years. These dedicated men and women devote thier time and skill to provide lifesaving measures to the sick and injured.
We have three locations
Station 23- Base
Is located in the Town of Orange on Route 20 Bypass at 151 Berry Hill Road and is normally the location of meetings and training classes.
Station 21- Sub-Station
Is located in the Mine Run area of the County at 28075 Mine Run Road.
Station 24- Sub-Station
Is located in the Town of Gordonsville at 403 South High Street.
* Active / Regular Membership- runs an average of 12-hours a Week, they are entilted to vote on Squad business, may enroll in an optional retirement plan, etc.. and are at least 18 years old.
* Special Membership- are members of other fire, rescue, police, or 911 Comunication agencies that run a minimum of 12-hours each Month. These Members are not entitled to vote on Squad business, but receive other benefits based on thier level of activity and are at least 18 years old.
* Junior Members- Are members between the age of 16 and 18 years of age. These members answer emergency calls under the supervision of Active/Regular members and are entitled to vote on Junior Squad Business.
From the first day you join th Orange Volunteer Rescue Squad, you are eligible and encoureged to attend many diffrent classes. We offer classes in CPR, Emergency Vechicle Operations for driving, Emergency Medical Technician classes for treating patients and many other specialized classes including Mass Casualty Managment. Most of these classes are held at our Station in the Town of Orange and normally the Squad pays for the classes as long as you remain an Active running member.
